Manchester City are readying a big-money bid for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, according to reports.
It’s set to be a big summer for City as they look to bounce back from their Champions League final defeat and replace departing legend Sergio Aguero.
The club’s record scorer will officially join Barcelona upon the expiration of his contract at the end of the month and will leave a big hole in the squad.
A replacement is City’s transfer priority this summer and club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has claimed he is ‘confident’ of signing a player capable of filling Aguero’s shoes.
Harry Kane appeared to overtake Haaland as the front-runner after the Tottenham talisman made his discontent in North London public.
Yet the Norwegian sensation remains a candidate, with his youth and connections to the club putting him at an advantage to Kane.
According to journalist Ekrem Konur, the Blues have settled on Haaland as their ideal Aguero replacement and are set to offer €110milion for the 20-year-old.
Such a fee would blow City’s previous transfer record out of the water, yet it’s reported that Chelsea remain hot on their heels in the race for his signature.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus is reportedly on the verge of joining Juventus.
While it would make little sense for City to allow another striker to leave while they look to increase their options in the position, Jesus continues to be linked with a move away from the Etihad.
According to Tuttosport, the Brazilian is close to signing for the Italian giants, though Tottenham could make a late move as they prepare for the potential departure of Kane.
