Fabrizio Romano Names ‘Solid’ £21m-Rated Chelsea Player As Potential Option For PL Club

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma may be a possible target for Tottenham this summer.

According to well-respected journalist Romano on Twitter, Premier League rivals Spurs are trying to sign defender Cristian Romero.

However, there is a plan B with three alternative centre-back targets that Spurs could open talks for.

Blues centre-half Zouma, who’s valued at £21.3million (€25million) by Romano, is included on that list.

Zouma, 26, has been on the books at Stamford Bridge since 2014.

As a result, the French powerhouse has won two Premier League titles, the League Cup and the Champions League.

He scored five goals in 36 appearances last season in all competitions, but was in and out of the XI under current Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

It’s worth pointing out though Tuchel praised the defender during various part of the season, including an assessment back in February where he called him “solid”.

Chelsea need to keep Zouma

Zouma may have been disappointed to drop out of Chelsea’s best XI under Tuchel, but he’s still an important member of the current squad.

Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta were in pole position for the starting roles in Tuchel’s back three system last season. That leaves Zouma and Andreas Christensen as cover.

There is no reason why each centre-half can’t play at least 30-plus games in the new campaign though due to the sheer amount of fixtures. Also, you have to factor in for injuries.

Zouma may feel he’s got a better chance of starting if the manager decides to switch to a back four.
